Lucy was kneeling beside a dog bowl filled with leftover breakfast when Vittorio entered the room without a word.
Bianca had pushed away the child’s normal plate and mocked her by saying that if she behaved like an animal, she should eat like one.
Vittorio immediately lifted Lucy away from the bowl.
Crying against her father’s neck, the little girl said something painfully simple: she was a human being.
Then Emma showed Vittorio a video she had recorded earlier.
The footage proved this was not an isolated humiliation. Bianca had repeatedly forced Lucy toward the dog bowl while Marcus stood nearby laughing and shutting the breakfast-room door.
Marcus immediately tried to take Emma’s phone.
He failed.
Bianca then reached toward Lucy again.
She failed too.
When the room finally went still, Vittorio placed the same dog bowl directly in front of Bianca and told her to enjoy her last meal.
Why had Bianca been humiliating Vittorio’s daughter whenever he was away? Why had Marcus helped hide it? Why was Emma trembling as if the video on her phone showed more than one morning of abuse?
And why did Bianca suddenly look terrified when Vittorio made it clear that breakfast would be the last thing she controlled inside the Romano house?
Lucy had been treated like an animal.
Vittorio was about to discover that the cruelty around his daughter was only one piece of a much larger attempt to control his family.
