I Came Home Early and Found My 12-Year-Old Daughter on Her Knees Scrubbing the Floor While My Wife and Three Women Drank Wine—Then Her Teacher Stood Up and Exposed a Shocking Secret.
I CAME HOME EARLY WITH CINNAMON ROLLS FOR MY 12-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER—AND FOUND HER ON HER KNEES SCRUBBING THE FLOOR WHILE MY WIFE AND THREE WOMEN SAT DRINKING WINE.
But what broke my heart wasn't the dirty floor.
It was what my daughter whispered when she saw me.
“Dad, don't step there. I'll clean it before Tiffany sees.”
Her little hands were red. Her knees were soaked. And when I asked if she was hurt, she quietly answered:
“No, sir.”
My daughter had NEVER called me sir before.
I pulled out my phone and started recording.
My wife, Tiffany, hurried into the room.
“Greg! You weren't supposed to be home until eight!”
Then she smiled.
“Everything is perfectly normal. We're teaching Maya responsibility.”
I was about to demand an explanation when one of the women stood up.
It was my daughter's English teacher.
She looked me straight in the eyes.
“Mr. Mercer, did you authorize the school to remove Maya from her after-school program so she could work at home every afternoon?”
My stomach dropped.
“WHAT? I NEVER AUTHORIZED THAT!”
The teacher went pale.
“Then, Mr. Mercer... someone signed your name.”
Behind her, my wife's wineglass slipped from her hand and shattered.
And suddenly, I realized that the little girl I'd trusted my wife to protect had been hiding something far worse than a few household chores.
But who had forged my signature—and what had my daughter been forced to endure while I was away?
