Chapter 11 - THE DOCTOR'S CONFESSION

Dr. Price leaned toward the camera.

"The person you need to fear most is Graham Hale."

Nathan let out a breath.

That made sense.

Then Price kept talking.

"And you need to fear me too."

Nobody moved.

Price's face on the screen looked ten years older than the man downstairs.

"Three years ago, Graham funded an off-book trial through a shell company. The compound was meant to suppress neural inflammation. Instead, repeated doses caused auditory distortion, dizziness, memory gaps, and impaired judgment."

Nathan's eyes closed.

"I helped bury the results."

Mrs. Alvarez whispered, "Dear God."

Price continued. "Graham used the side effects against people standing in his way. I told myself I was protecting patients, protecting my license, protecting my family. The truth is simpler. I was a coward."

On-screen, he held up a list of names.

The six people from the folder.

Then Nathan's.

"Vanessa was never supposed to hurt you. At first she only wanted you dependent. But Graham changed the plan after you refused to sell the patent portfolio. He ordered her to escalate the dose, secure your voting proxy, marry you, activate the policy, and make your death look like a neurological event."

Nathan stood despite the blood soaking his bandage.

"I'm going downstairs."

I grabbed his arm. "You're not going anywhere until we finish this."

The video continued.

"I copied the original trial data. I also recorded Graham admitting everything. The files are hidden where Vanessa would never search."

Price looked directly into the camera.

"Inside Nathan's hearing aid charger."

Nathan stared at the empty charging dock on the bedside table.

The charger was gone.

Sophia's eyes widened.

She pointed toward the hall.

MAN TAKE.

"Which man?" I signed.

She made a square shape at her chest.

Security badge.

Cross had the charger.

Then the doorknob began turning.
