Chapter 10 - DANIEL'S REAL NAME
Daniel Price's legal name was Daniel Morgan.
Anna Morgan's younger half-brother.
"You were my wife's brother?"
"Half-brother."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Anna asked me not to unless something happened."
Something had.
After Anna found the forged trust, she created a reserve structure outside Eleanor's reach.
If Emma's thirty-four percent was frozen through family manipulation, twelve percent activated under independent control.
Daniel became successor protector because Anna trusted him to stay near Emma without wanting Pierce money.
He trained as a lifeguard and took the estate job after Anna died.
"Everyone was protecting me from information."
"Anna thought you'd confront Eleanor before she had proof."
Then Daniel played an old voicemail from Anna.
"Victor is dangerous, but Eleanor is afraid of him. The person I don't understand is Juliette. Eleanor hasn't met her yet."
Juliette had always claimed Eleanor introduced them.
That was false.
Brooks brought Juliette back in.
Victor introduced her.
Victor told Juliette the Pierce family had destroyed her father's investments.
He made himself her protector.
Then used her.
Later Eleanor approved the relationship because it helped control Christopher.
"Did you know the shallow marker had been moved?" Brooks asked.
"Yes."
"Then you knew Emma could go into deep water."
"Yes."
"And you pushed her."
"Yes."
No excuse remained.
"The greenhouse wall. If I need to hide the meeting, that's where I'll put it."
Christopher searched the estate greenhouse.
Behind a loose brick was a micro-SD card.
Anna had recorded Eleanor, Victor, and Stephen Vale the night before her death.
Victor said, "She has enough to stop the merger."
Eleanor replied, "Then scare her."
Vale said, "Anna doesn't scare."
Victor answered, "Then stop the car."
A door creaked.
Anna's voice:
"I heard enough."
The recording ended.

Anna had caught them planning against her.
And they knew she had heard them.
