Chapter 17 - ANNA'S NAME

Christopher thought the financial scheme was finally over.
It was not.
Eleanor used Anna's forged signature on loan guarantees after Anna died.
To the outside lender, Anna appeared alive long enough to approve the Hale Meridian structure.
Rachel traced seven electronic signatures.
All generated through Stephen Vale's private document system.
Not because of money.
Because his dead wife's name had been made to work for the people who helped kill her.
The lender agreed to unwind the lien after federal intervention.
Pierce Holdings accepted losses.
Victor's fund collapsed.
The board asked Christopher whether he wanted to sue everyone involved.
"Where evidence supports it."
Not vengeance.
Process.
That distinction became his new discipline.
"Is Grandma's money paying people back?"
"Some of it."
"Good."
"Do I still have money?"
"More than you need."
"Can I buy a horse?"
"No."
"Then what's the point?"
A normal argument.
He treasured it.
The company created the Anna Pierce Consent Fund to support families harmed by coercive medical and guardianship practices.
Christopher wanted to name it after Emma too.
Emma refused.
"I'm not dead."
That ended the discussion.
Daniel joined the fund's advisory board but kept no financial authority over Emma's trust.
Rachel remained outside counsel.
Christopher returned as CEO only after an independent board vote.
No automatic family right.
Then he sold the mansion.
"Too many bad things happened there?"
"Partly."
"Also the pool?"
"Yes."
"Can somebody else have it?"
The property was sold to a foundation running a residential school.
The pool was rebuilt with alarms, fencing, and public safety standards.
Emma never visited.
She did not have to.
On moving day, Christopher found the old pink dress from the pool incident sealed in an evidence bag.
"Throw it away."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
"No. Give it to the center."
"What center?"
"The one for kids when grown-ups lie."
May you like
Emma was thinking bigger than memory.
And that idea became the next chapter of the Pierce family.
