MY STEPMOTHER GAVE ME 24 HOURS TO GIVE MY BEDROOM TO HER DAUGHTER OR GET OUT — SHE HAD NO IDEA I OWNED MOST OF THE HOUSE
My stepmother looked me straight in the eye and said:
“Give your bedroom to Chloe by tomorrow morning… or get out of this house forever.”
My stepsister smiled.
My father stared down at his plate.
And when I quietly asked him to defend me, he said the same three words he had used for years:
“Keep the peace.”
So I did something none of them expected.
I smiled.
Went upstairs.
Packed two suitcases.
And left.
Chloe actually laughed when she saw my luggage.
They thought I had nowhere to go.
They thought I would be back in a few days, begging for the basement room.
Forty minutes later, I drove through a private steel gate in Paradise Valley.
Lights came on across a multimillion-dollar glass mansion built into the hillside.
My mansion.
Paid for.
And completely mine.
But that wasn’t the secret that was going to destroy my stepmother’s plan.
Later that night, I opened a cedar box my mother had left me years ago.
Inside was a document Gwendolyn had apparently forgotten existed.
I unfolded it.
Read my name.
Read my father’s.
Then read the ownership percentage one more time.
And started laughing.
Because my stepmother had just thrown me out of a house…
that I legally owned most of.
And by the time she discovered what else she and my father had done with my property, losing my bedroom was going to be the least of their problems.
