Chapter 11 - TWO O'CLOCK

Gabriel wanted to send Harper and Noah out of Massachusetts before the raid.
Harper refused.
"Every time I run, Derek gets to tell the story."
"This isn't about Derek anymore."
"It is to me."
Rebecca sent copies of everything to AUSA Lena Ortiz, a national reporter, and a timed dead-man server.
Gabriel watched from the library, pale from blood loss but still standing.
"You're enjoying this," Harper told Rebecca.
"I enjoy insurance."
Noah sat upstairs with Mrs. Morrison and two guards Harper trusted.
Gabriel looked at the monitor.
"Here they come."
Men in police gear flooded the sidewalk.
A loudspeaker boomed.
"BOSTON POLICE! SEARCH WARRANT!"
Rebecca read the warrant. "It's facially valid."
"Bought?" Harper asked.
"Probably."
Gabriel faced his men.
"Nobody fires. Not one shot unless they're protecting a life. Cameras stay on."
One guard stared at him. "Boss, they come in shooting-"
"Then the world sees who started it."
The front doors burst open. Wade entered in body armor.
"Gabriel Ashford. Long night?"
Gabriel said nothing.
Wade's eyes moved to Harper.
"Ms. Queen. You're under arrest."
Rebecca stepped between them. "On what charge?"
"Theft. Obstruction. Conspiracy. Take your pick."
Harper lifted her phone.
"We're live."
Wade's smile twitched.
Officers searched the house.
One of Harper's hidden cameras showed an officer opening an empty cabinet, taking a bag of cocaine from his vest, and placing it inside.
"Want to explain that?"
Wade's face changed.
Then the entire house went black.
May you like
Someone had cut the power.
Upstairs, Noah screamed.
