The inhaler hit the wall.
Seconds later, eight-year-old Mireya was on the floor, gasping for air.
Forty guests stood frozen as Cullen pushed through the crowd, dropped beside his daughter, and pulled her inhaler from under a table.
But the woman responsible didn’t look scared.
She smiled.
“She’s being dramatic,” Tove said coldly. “She just wants attention.”
Cullen slowly stood.
This was the woman he was supposed to marry in six weeks.
“You threw away my daughter’s inhaler.”
Tove crossed her arms.
“She’s been lying to you for months.”
Then Mireya grabbed her father’s sleeve.
Her face was pale.
Her voice barely came out.
“Daddy… she did this before.”
Cullen froze.
“Before when?”
Mireya looked directly at Tove.
“The night Mommy died.”
