Chapter 18 - The Board Falls

By evening, the audit was no longer private.

Financial prosecutors had the green book.

Police had Ferrand's recording.

The pension regulator had the collateral documents.

And Kora's internal investigators had Samuel's confession.

At Beaumont headquarters, the board convened one final emergency session.

Philippe Garnier tried to resign before it began.

He never reached the elevator.

Investigators met him in the lobby.

Amina entered the boardroom with Antoine beside her.

He looked wrecked.

"I signed things I didn't read," he said before anyone else spoke. "That failure is mine."

One director muttered, "This is not the time for confession."

Amina looked at him.

"It is exactly the time."

Jules laid out the evidence.

Forged signatures.

Shell vendors.

Pension theft.

Inventory diversion.

The Diallo trust.

The old crash conspiracy.

When he finished, nobody defended Bernard.

They defended themselves.

That told Amina everything.

Then Antoine stood.

"I move to dissolve the current executive committee and appoint independent administration."

A director objected. "You don't have the votes."

Amina opened a second folder.

"He doesn't need them."

She placed the recovered trust instrument on the table.

The original document had been found that afternoon in Ferrand's safe deposit box.

Mariam Diallo's thirty-five percent interest had never been lawfully canceled.

Through subsequent reorganizations, the exact modern percentage would take months to litigate.

But one clause was immediate.

In the event of fraud by controlling officers, the Diallo trust held emergency veto rights over asset transfers.

Amina signed the notice.

"Effective now," she said, "nothing leaves this company.
