One folder was labeled CATHERINE.
The first video showed Catherine in the east cottage six weeks before she died.
"If Dominic sees this, he will be angry that I did not trust him with everything."
"My son loves fiercely. That is not the same as listening well. He thinks solving a problem is the same as understanding the person inside it."
Catherine named Preston Hale as the architect of the forged amendment.
Malcolm Harrington financed the land scheme.
Brooke helped move documents and was being positioned near Dominic.
Then Catherine said something unexpected.
"Brooke is dangerous, but she is not the beginning."
The beginning was Michael Mercer.
Dominic and Natalie's father.
Years earlier Michael used family trusts to hide criminal profits and control Catherine after their marriage failed.
Preston learned the system from him.
After Michael died, Preston kept using the machinery for himself.
Catherine spent years trying to untangle it.
The east cottage trust was part of that repair.
A piece of property no Mercer man could take from Natalie.
His father had built the weapon.
His mother tried to disarm it.
Preston stole it.
Then Owen's audio files began.
In one, Brooke argued with Malcolm.
"I don't want Natalie hurt."
Malcolm answered, "Then make her sign."
"And Owen?"
"Owen made his choice."
Brooke sounded shaken.
Not innocent.
But afraid.
Another recording, weeks later:
Brooke: Dominic will never forgive this.
Preston: He won't know. He doesn't inspect what loyalty hands him.
The insult hurt because it was true.
WEDDING DAY.
A document described the last phase.
At 12:01 a.m. after the ceremony, Brooke would gain administrative control.
At 12:15, the waterfront options would be sold.
At 12:30, Natalie would be served with an emergency guardianship petition.
And at 1:00 a.m., Dominic Mercer would be declared temporarily unavailable.
"Unavailable how?"
