Chapter 13 - THE WEDDING PLAN

The wedding was never only about Brooke marrying Dominic.

It was about removing everyone who could stop the transfer.

Natalie through forged psychiatric records.

Noah through guardianship.

Dominic through poison disguised as a medical crisis.

Sarah found the proposed emergency proxy.

If Dominic became incapacitated within seventy-two hours of marriage, his new spouse would temporarily exercise his personal company votes.

Brooke could control her own new authority plus Dominic's.

Enough to force the waterfront sale.

"What poison?"

Owen's archive contained an invoice from Vaughn's clinic for a cardiac medication Dominic did not take.

Brooke had asked the household chef about Dominic's whiskey preferences three weeks earlier.

Emma spoke quietly.

"She also replaced the bottle in your study."

"When?"

"Tuesday. She said the label was damaged."

Gabriel retrieved the bottle.

Federal testing found a high concentration of a heart medication capable of causing severe hypotension.

Not guaranteed death.

Enough to collapse him.

Enough to create emergency incapacity.

Brooke had prepared the drink herself.

"What?"

"I was going to drink that after the rehearsal dinner."

Silence.

Dominic set the bottle down.

"No more secret tests."

Sarah raised an eyebrow.

"Meaning?"

"I came home to test Brooke instead of calling Natalie and believing Noah."

"That was wrong. I treated my own family like witnesses in an investigation before I treated them like people telling me the truth."

Natalie did not rush to forgive him.

"Yes."

Then the federal team proposed canceling the wedding publicly.

"No."

"The transfer only triggers if Brooke believes the ceremony happens. Preston and Malcolm still need to surface."

Sarah said, "You are suggesting a controlled operation."

"With federal supervision."

Natalie crossed her arms.

"And Noah nowhere near it."

"Agreed."

Emma asked, "What about Brooke?"

Dominic looked at the wedding invitation on the table.

"She wanted Saturday."

His expression went cold.

"She gets Saturday."

May you like

Then Gabriel's phone buzzed.

And she was wearing her wedding dress.
