Chapter 13 - BIANCA’S CHOICE

Bianca had agreed to cooperate before the board meeting.
Not for immunity.
No one had promised that.
Her father, Adrian Moretti, had not died when she was sixteen.
He died when she was twenty-one.
Five years of her life story had been rewritten for Matteo.
By Vittorio.
Adrian had worked for Arclight until he discovered the company was stealing from Bellandi and using Lantern House as a transfer network.
He tried to leave.
Vittorio ruined him financially.
Then Adrian died by suicide after the collapse of his business.
Bianca had spent years blaming the Bellandis.
Vittorio found her at twenty-four.
He gave her documents proving Bellandi money had destroyed her father.
Matteo met her in the library after the boardroom confrontation.
“You could have told me.”
“I should have.”
“You threatened Elena instead.”
“I know.”
“You used Mia.”
Bianca closed her eyes.
“I know.”
“Stop saying that like knowing is remorse.”
She looked at him.
“I was afraid.”
“So was Elena.”
Bianca nodded.
“And she still told the truth.”
That silenced her.
Police arrested Vittorio on financial charges first.
More would follow after Paul’s testimony was tested.
Then she handed Matteo one final envelope.
“What is this?”
“Your wedding contract.”
He almost laughed.
“I know what a prenup looks like.”
“Not the prenup.”
Inside was an amendment.
If Matteo died within five years of marriage without children with Bianca, certain voting shares would pass temporarily into a marital trust controlled by Bianca and Vittorio.
Matteo stared at her.
“I never agreed to this.”
“You didn’t.”
“Forged?”
“Yes.”
His voice went flat.
“Was I supposed to die?”
Bianca began crying.
“No.”
“Then why does this exist?”
May you like
She looked toward the window.
“Because Vittorio always made two plans.”
