Chapter 6 - THE FILE MARCO LEFT

Marco’s letter was dated six years earlier.
Mr. Bellandi,
If you are reading this, then your uncle either believes the old records are gone or he has decided the family is vulnerable again.
The shell company is called Arclight.
Matteo looked at Dominic.
The merger papers in Bianca’s red folder named Arclight Holdings.
Same company.
Marco had found it six years ago.
The letter continued.
Arclight receives money from Bellandi Maritime through false insurance claims and maintenance contracts. I believe Mr. Vittorio is using the company to buy Bellandi shares through third parties.
Matteo’s jaw tightened.
A quiet takeover.
Years in the making.
Marco had attached account numbers and copies of shipping records.
Then came the final paragraph.
I gave one copy to Carlo Bellandi. If anything happens to me, ask him about the St. James meeting.
Sofia covered her mouth.
“Your father went to St. James Hospital the week Marco died.”
Matteo remembered.
Carlo claimed he had chest pain.
“What meeting?”
Sofia shook her head.
“I don’t know.”
Dominic plugged in the flash drive.
Marco stood in the security office.
Tired.
Nervous.
“If this is being watched, I may already be gone.”
Elena started crying.
Mia clung to her.
Marco looked directly into the camera.
“Vittorio knows I copied the logs.”
Then he said something no one expected.
“Bianca Laurent’s father is involved.”
Matteo turned slowly toward the screen.

Bianca had told Matteo her father died when she was sixteen. Marco’s video identified him instead as Adrian Moretti, an Arclight account controller photographed beside Vittorio. Bianca had entered Matteo’s life under a false family history.
Then the chapel lights went out.
