Chapter 8 - THE INCIDENT

They searched Bianca's planner.

Next Thursday was circled in red.

INCIDENT - 8:30 A.M.

PRESS HOLD - 10:00 A.M.

DR. K - 11:15 A.M.

Maya stared at the page.

"They planned a public breakdown."

Vittorio understood the sequence.

Provoke him.

Record him.

Release the footage.

Bring in a paid expert.

Ask a court for emergency control before Lucy's birthday.

The breakfast-room cruelty had not been random.

It was rehearsal.

Lucy had resisted harder than Bianca expected.

Emma had recorded it.

And Vittorio had come home early.

That changed the board.

Ruiz recovered deleted security logs.

On three separate dates, Marcus disabled cameras in rooms where Bianca later claimed Vittorio had "episodes."

But one old camera was not connected to Marcus's system.

A tiny lens hidden inside a grandfather clock in Vittorio's study.

His father had installed it decades ago.

The footage showed Bianca entering late at night with Dr. Aaron Kessler.

Kessler handed her a small bottle.

Marcus joined them.

Salvatore entered last.

Audio was weak but usable.

Salvatore said, "We don't need him unconscious. We need him angry."

Kessler replied, "Then keep the dose low."

Vittorio's hands tightened around the chair.

Maya stopped the video.

"That is enough to go to police."

"Do it."

This time he did not hesitate.

Detective Lena Brooks, who had handled Elena's crash years earlier, arrived that evening.

She watched every clip.

Then she opened the old crash file.

"I always hated one thing about Elena's case," she said.

Vittorio looked at her.

"What?"

"The garage footage disappeared before we could subpoena it."

"Who requested the vehicle from the garage?"

Brooks turned a page.

Marcus Hale.

Then she showed Vittorio a document he had never seen.

Elena had called police two days before the crash.

She told them someone was following her.

And she gave them a name.

Salvatore D'Angelo.
