My Wife Was Secretly Draining My Son’s Trust Fund—Then the Nanny Exposed Her

Maria waited until the police left.

Then she took the flash drive from a hidden seam inside Lucas's backpack.

"Claire gave this to me two weeks before she died," she said.

Arthur stared at her. "Six years ago?"

"She made me promise not to give it to you unless someone tried to change Lucas's trust."

"Why would she think that would happen?"

Maria looked miserable. "Because she didn't trust Graham Pike."

Arthur sat down.

Claire had died after a fast, brutal battle with pancreatic cancer. In those final months, Graham had handled almost every legal detail.

Maria plugged the drive into Ben's clean laptop.

There were three folders: TRUST, VANCE MEDICAL, and FOR ARTHUR.

Arthur clicked the last one.

Claire appeared on video, thinner than he remembered, wrapped in a blue sweater.

"Arthur," she said, "if you're watching this, somebody came for Lucas's shares."

His throat closed.

Claire continued. "Graham has been pressuring me to amend the trust so the shares can be voted by a family trustee. I refused. If he tells you I changed my mind, he's lying."

Arthur looked at Daniel.

Daniel whispered, "My God."

Claire held up a document. "There is a protection clause Graham doesn't know about. Daniel has the original sealed instrument. If anyone attempts to remove the independent trustee through fraud, Lucas's voting shares automatically transfer into a ten-year protective trust overseen by three outside fiduciaries."

Arthur almost laughed from relief.

Then Claire's face became serious.

"But that's not the worst part. Graham isn't acting alone."

The video glitched.

The screen froze.

Ben checked the drive. "The file is corrupted after this point."

Arthur clenched his jaw. "Can you recover it?"

"Maybe."

Lucas pointed at the folder marked VANCE MEDICAL.

"Dad, what's that one?"

Arthur opened it.

Inside was a spreadsheet listing secret payments made six years ago.
