He came home early with a white teddy bear for his daughter’s birthday.

Vincent stared at her.
“Mia… what happened?”

She was standing in the doorway in a white robe, still holding a glass of wine.
“Vincent,” she said quickly. “I can explain.”
He didn’t answer.
Mia grabbed his sleeve.
“She said Mommy lied to you.”
For the first time, the woman in white stopped looking confident.
Because Mia hadn’t told her father everything yet.
And the next thing the little girl revealed would force Vincent to question not only the woman he planned to marry—
but the secret his late wife had taken to her grave.
