Chapter 6 - VIVIAN

Vivian Hale was twenty-six.
He had attended every birthday Isabella invited him to after their father died.
And now Vivian was on camera dressed as a nurse, stealing evidence from his pregnant wife's room.
Avery pulled her employment records.
"She works here?"
"No," Marcus said.
"Then how did she get scrubs and a badge?"
Hospital security zoomed in.
Avery called for a citywide alert.
Khloe watched the footage from bed.
"Why would Vivian help her mother?"
"Because Isabella taught her family loyalty means obedience."
Khloe looked at him.
"Did she teach you that too?"
For years, Isabella had made decisions and called them protection.
She chose Marcus's first apartment.
When Marcus married Khloe, Isabella smiled in photographs and quietly tried to control everything from the guest list to the prenuptial agreement.
Marcus had called it annoying.
Khloe had called it dangerous.
"Vivian's phone is off."
"Car?"
"Found in the hospital garage."
Marcus stood.
"She's still here."
Thirty minutes later, an officer found discarded scrubs in a stairwell.
Then Preston Vale called Marcus.
"Marcus, listen carefully."
"Where are you?"
"Doesn't matter."
"What did you give Khloe?"
"Proof your sister has been moving money through the hospital foundation."
Marcus went still.
"How much?"
"At least twelve million."
"For what?"
"Shell companies. Fake grants. Private accounts."
"Why tell Khloe?"
"Because I knew you wouldn't believe me."
He had fired Preston.
Maybe Isabella had arranged that too.
Preston continued.
"The envelope had account numbers and copies of board approvals."
"Vivian stole it."
"Then you're out of time."
"Why?"
"Because those papers connect Isabella to a doctor."
"Which doctor?"
Preston went quiet.
Then, "The one treating your wife."
Dr. Adrian Wells was standing beside Khloe's bed, adjusting her IV.
Marcus dropped the phone.
"GET AWAY FROM HER!"
May you like
Dr. Wells turned.
And the monitor alarm exploded.
