Chapter 16 - THE VIDEO EVERYONE SAW

Derek posted the pool video online.

He thought it made Bradley look funny.

The clip began like a family joke, then showed two men holding my arms, me saying, "Bradley, do not do this," and Bradley pushing me anyway.

The video spread.

Not because I posted it.

Because Derek wanted attention.

By morning, reporters had connected Bradley to Bennett Mobility.

Our communications team called at 6:12 a.m.

"We need a statement."

I refused to discuss the marriage publicly.

The company issued one sentence:

BRADLEY REED IS NO LONGER EMPLOYED BY BENNETT MOBILITY GROUP. THE COMPANY DOES NOT COMMENT ON PRIVATE FAMILY MATTERS OR ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS.

That was all.

Bradley did not show the same restraint.

He gave a statement to a gossip site saying I had used my corporate power to punish him over a "harmless family joke."

Then he said I had always been controlling.

For twenty-four hours, strangers debated our marriage. I hated all of it.

Then something unexpected happened.

Three former employees contacted Serena.

All three had worked under Bradley and described expense manipulation, hidden costs, and retaliation when they questioned his numbers.

One woman, Dana Lewis, had resigned eight months earlier after Bradley told her she was "not a team player" for refusing to backdate a report.

She still had emails.

The internal case widened.

Bradley's lawyer called Nora.

Settlement conversation.

He wanted the divorce resolved quietly.

He also wanted me to sign a mutual nondisparagement agreement and ask the board to classify his termination as voluntary.

I said no to the employment lie.

Nora asked, "What if that ends settlement?"

"Then it ends."

I was done purchasing peace with truth.

That afternoon, Dana forwarded the email chain.

At the bottom was an approval from Ethan.

And copied on the message was someone I had not expected.

Barbara.
