Chapter 2 - THREE BROTHERS

Ethan had met Grace's brothers before.

He had simply never bothered to learn much about them.

Nathan was quiet.

Caleb was a lawyer.

Marcus seemed like the kind of man who could fix anything with his hands.

Tonight, all three stared at Grace's bruised cheek.

"Ethan hit me," Grace said.

Marcus stepped forward.

Grace stopped him with one word.

"No."

Nathan nodded.

"Your choice."

Ethan raised his hands.

"It was one slap."

Caleb's face hardened.

"That's your defense?"

Grace looked down at the cream-colored box.

"I was going to tell him something tonight."

She opened it.

The ultrasound photograph lay inside.

Ethan went pale.

"You're pregnant?"

"Seventeen weeks."

He stared at her stomach.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Grace looked at Lauren.

"I was trying to."

Nathan moved between Ethan and Grace.

Ethan snapped, "You don't get to give orders in my house."

Nathan glanced at Caleb.

Caleb placed a document case on the table.

"Your house?"

Ethan laughed.

"Whatever this is, leave my company out of it."

Caleb opened the case.

He placed Walker Development's capitalization agreement beside Ethan's untouched dinner.

"Recognize this?"

Ethan frowned.

"Of course."

Caleb pointed to one line.

Wren Holdings, LLC.

Preferred equity investor.

Sixty-two percent voting control upon breach.

Ethan stared at the signature.

G. H. Cole.

Then he looked at Grace.

Nathan spoke.

"Her name before you married her wasn't Grace Bell."

Ethan's mouth went dry.

Grace met his eyes.

"Grace Holloway Cole."

May you like

Lauren suddenly stopped breathing.

Because unlike Ethan, she knew exactly what the Holloway name meant.
