Chapter 11 - The Second TargetAdrian moved Oliver out of the mansion that night.

No announcement.
No familiar route.
Private safe residence.
Maria went with him.
Not because Adrian fully trusted her again.
Because Oliver did.
That mattered.
Vanessa remained under legal restrictions.
Marcus disappeared.
His office empty.
Phone off.
Private jet untouched.
He had planned for land travel.
The company froze accounts.
Then Adrian’s car exploded in the garage.
No one was inside.
Security footage showed a maintenance contractor placing something beneath it.
The man escaped.
Now there was no ambiguity.
Adrian was a target.
He looked at Oliver sleeping in Maria’s arms.
“I brought this into his life.”
Maria said:
“No.”
“My company. My trust. My people.”
“Marcus brought it.”
“I trusted him.”
“That is not the same.”
Adrian laughed bitterly.
“Everyone keeps saying that.”
Maria looked at him.
“Because guilt makes you feel useful. It is not.”
That irritated him.
Which meant she was probably right.
Then Harris called.
Marcus had withdrawn cash from a branch near the Canadian border.
But another clue mattered more.
He had accessed a storage unit in Boston.
Inside police found photographs.
Elena.
Adrian.
Oliver.
Maria.
Vanessa.
Timelines.
Schedules.
And a folder marked:
PHASE THREE.
Adrian opened it.
Inside was a draft guardianship petition.
Claim:
Adrian Cole emotionally unstable after wife’s death.
Nanny Maria Alvarez manipulative and unsafe.
Vanessa Sterling proposed emergency guardian.
Adrian looked at Vanessa’s name.
She whispered when shown:
“I never saw this.”
Harris believed her.
Marcus had planned to use everyone.
Then Maria found a handwritten note inside the folder.
