Chapter 12 - EMBRYO NUMBER SIX

Rowan claimed number five was implanted in Margaret.
The clinic’s internal inventory showed a gap two years earlier.
A transfer logged under a private code.
No patient name.
No doctor signature.
Just:
V-17.
Samuel looked at Vanessa’s old medical records.
Her birthday was the seventeenth.
“V could mean Vanessa.”
If Vanessa had received embryo five two years ago, where was the child?
She had never publicly been pregnant.
He had performed the transfer.
Vanessa became pregnant.
She carried for twelve weeks.
Then miscarried.
That was what Cynthia told everyone.
Rowan admitted he never personally confirmed the miscarriage.
Vanessa disappeared from public life for seven months, supposedly recovering overseas.
The timeline fit a full pregnancy.
Rowan looked at the table.
“Yes.”
“Mine?”
“Genetically yours and Margaret’s.”
Vanessa had possibly given birth to one Whitmore embryo two years earlier.
Then helped arrange a second pregnancy inside Margaret.
This was no longer one stolen baby.
There might be another child hidden somewhere.
Rowan claimed Cynthia handled the delivery.
New Dawn records listed a private maternity stay in Switzerland.
Patient code V-17.
Infant code:
NDA-204.
No name.
Interpol requests went out.
Alexander sat beside Margaret after detectives explained.
She looked shattered.
“Another baby?”
“Maybe.”
“A baby created from us?”
“Yes.”
“Raised by who?”
Nobody knew.
Margaret covered her face.
“I thought they stole my life. They stole my children.”
Alexander reached toward her.
Stopped.
Waited.
Margaret looked at his hand.
Then placed hers in it.
Not forgiveness.
Not reunion.
Permission.
One small piece.
That night, a response came from a Swiss private hospital.
Infant NDA-204 had been discharged alive.
