Chapter 10 - THE DOCTOR WHO NEVER TREATED HER

Dr. Keller was arrested for property damage before sunrise.
The bigger case came later.
He admitted Victoria paid him as a consultant.
“For what?”
He had written medical opinions about Emily based on conversations with Michael and Victoria.
Leah read one.
“Patient demonstrates paranoia regarding spouse.”
Then investigators found something worse.
Keller had done this before.
Emily stared at the email chains.
“This wasn’t invented for me.”
“No,” I said.
It was a system.
A profitable one.
Money, medical language, private facilities, friendly police, family pressure—everything respectable on paper.
Then forensic analysis concluded Claire’s trust signature was likely forged. The document had been created thirteen years earlier—before Emily ever met Michael.
“How could Victoria forge Mom’s signature before Michael and I were together?”
Rachel looked at me.
“Maybe the document wasn’t about Michael originally.”
I felt a chill.
“Then what was it about?”
She turned to Emily.
“Your mother.”
The amended trust had been created six months before Claire died.
Claire’s death had been ruled an accident after a highway collision.
Suddenly, none of us wanted to say the next question out loud.
Then Rachel found the attorney listed in the metadata.
Not Harrington & Vale.
An individual lawyer.
Samuel Price.
