Chapter 10 - What the Cameras Kept

Giulietta watched the final sentence again.
Then again.
Warren Hale had been in her father's house the night he died.
No family member had told her.
"I was outside that night."
Giulietta looked up.
"What?"
"Your father told me to leave at nine. Said it was family business. Vittorio arrived around nine-thirty. I saw his car. I didn't see Warren."
"Because he came another way."
The Marconi estate had changed systems after Antonio's death, but backups still existed on a private server.
The code belonged to Vittorio.
At 11:07, it left.
Giulietta stared at the times.
"Can you recover the side camera?"
"Maybe."
A grainy clip appeared.
A man got out.
Dark coat.
Warren.
Another figure waited by the door.
Giulietta felt something settle inside her.
Grief had lived there for years.
Her father's death had a shape now.
People.
Marco said, "We take this to the police."
"And the prosecutor. And our outside counsel. Copies everywhere. No more family vaults. No more secrets one fire can erase."
Marco looked surprised.
"Your father wouldn't have done that."
"My father is dead."
"And hiding everything is part of what killed him."
Nico's phone rang.
"Hotel security found something from this morning."
They returned to the footage.
Then Warren came into frame fifteen minutes later.
After that, Vittorio appeared.
He handed Warren the duplicate key.
Giulietta watched her uncle walk away.
Vittorio looked directly into the lens.

And mouthed two words.
"Help her."
